Course Description: This one-day classroom based course provides Radiation Protection Supervisors with the necessary knowledge of the principles of radiation protection, applicable legislation and their implementation through the UCL radiation management system. This course also provides the information on the UCL Operators Procedures (OPs) to enable them to supervise the safe and compliant use of ionising radiations in their departments. It concludes with a course assessment.
It is also suitable for RPS that are due refresher training.
Course Prerequisites:
The following online training must be completed before attendance on the course.
RPS - sealed sources: must complete the eLearning
RPS - unsealed sources: must complete the eLearning Must be familiar with the SHURS training content.
RPS - X-rays: must complete the eLearning and
RPS - X-ray and radioactive materials (sealed or unsealed) Must complete Principles of Radiation Safety, Basic X-ray Physics and Safe Use of X-rays. and and

Local rules and written departmental procedures
Best Available Technique
Designation
Checks and maintenance
Monitoring
Vacating areas
Management of radiation workers and dosimetry
Waste management
Incident management
