FAQs
- Where do I go to collect/return equipment?
The Educational Media team running this service is based in the Cruciform Building. Please enter the Cruciform through the main entrance on Gower Street, show your ID to security upon entry and please use the hand sanitising points. You should avoid using the lift if possible and instead take the stairs to the basement.
Collections and returns are made from Room G.08 which located in the Cruciform Building on Huntley Street
- What are your opening hours?
Opening hours are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Loans are issued by appointment only to ensure all safety conditions can be met - please don't turn up without an appointment. Currently we are still operating a restricted service due to staff availability but we will try our utmost to assist all requests where we can.
- How long can I borrow equipment for?
Loans are currently available for a maximum of one week ( 5 working days), we only have a limited amount of equipment so to ensure everyone can access the equipment they need we ask that you return all equipment as soon as you can.
Bookings must be made at least two days in advance. To book a slot for collection, contact the team. Once your booking is confirmed, this is your appointment time, if you miss it we may have difficulty in offering you another time slot. Items must be returned on the date and time agreed.
If you require technical support whilst loaning the equipment this can be done remotely if required, or please state you need assistance when booking and we will where possible allow extra time.
- Can I specify what equipment I want?
Wherever possible we will try to provide users with the equipment they request but this cannot be guaranteed. It will depend on our stock levels and the fact that we are still putting the kit into quarantine (72 hours) after use and need time to undertake the subsequent cleaning of all returned items.
Please note: Lavalier Microphones are now available, however due to the rise in Covid and Flu infections and the difficultyÌýin ensuring they are clean and safe to use between loans, we recommend thatÌýthese are purchased via IDTÌýif one of these is considered a necessity.
Shotgun microphones, windshields, stands and Boom Poles are available.
