Promote tools and design interventions to encourage awareness of health and wellbeing.
Providing a physically safe working environment, ensuring that working practices and conditions identified as contributing to poor musculoskeletal health is proactively managed. Prioritising the Public Health challenges identified as a health risk through the pandemic by providing opportunities to improve health through interventions and signposting. Â Supporting staff to access weight management programmes, smoking cessation support and becoming more active through evidence-based programmes in partnership with NHS/PHE.
Actions:
a)Â Â Â Deliver a staff and student seasonal flu vaccination campaign to protect the UCL community
b)Â Â Â Work in in partnership with UCL Safety Services to promote the DSE reporting tool to all staff ensuring they have a safe working set up. Â Provide access to set up advice and guidance and raise awareness of the Workplace Health Physiotherapy Clinic when appropriate Â
c)Â Â Â Share information on the NHS/PHE widely, promoting the health benefits of healthy eating, weight loss, physical activity, good sleep hygiene and reducing alcohol consumption.
d)Â Â Â Raise awareness of the UCL partnership with Breathe the smoking cessation service in Camden and Islington. Â Supporting the UCL community to quit smoking with behaviour change support.
e)Â Â Â Create a partnership with Project Active in the Student Union to create programmes to improve activity and deliver activity sessions to staff.
f)Â Â Â Provide health promotion and health awareness campaigns in line with the NHS health promotion calendar. Â Topics to include diabetes, heart health and cancer.
g)Â Â Â Work in partnership with Sustainability and Green Champions to further develop opportunities for activity in our green spaces and gardens.
h)Â Â Â Raise awareness of the benefits available to UCL staff including cycle to work scheme, cycle buddies, gym membership and health insurance products.
i)Â Â Â Design and deliver an annual step challenge. Â
Measuring Success:
- All seasonal flu vaccinations purchased to be utilised
- Increased completions of the DSE Assessment and support sought for desk set up with better musculoskeletal health outcomes. Â
- Positive feedback received from clients accessing the Workplace Health Physiotherapy service.
- Increased access to supports available through the Better Health Campaign
- Activity sessions delivered and programmes created to improve activity in partnership with Project Active
- In 2021 create a working group to undertake the development, design and delivery looking for opportunities to utilise technology and research.
- A health topic promoted monthly in partnership with CAMÂ
- Smoking cessation campaign partnership with Breathe launched and accessedÂ
- Positive feedback from the 2020 and 2021 step challenges
