Filestore@UCL: Adding your Home (N:) drive to a Linux machine

Before you start...
A Linux operating system 鈥撎齌hese instructions assume you are using GNOME or Unity, but the process should be similar on other Linux operating systems
A computer connected to the UCL network either onsite or via the UCL VPN remote access service if you are offsite
You need to know your 7 character UCL user ID
Please note: The full path that you need to access is based on the last character (letter or number) of your user ID. For example, smb://ad.ucl.ac.uk/HomeA/YourUserID for user IDs ending in 鈥楢鈥.
Instructions
In Finder click on听Files听in the Dock and then click on Other Locations. 听

In the Connect to Server field enter the address of your N drive using the path below substituting 鈥渃cearp0鈥 with your own UCL user ID.
smb://ad.ucl.ac.uk/home0/ccearp0
Please note the number 鈥0鈥 after home. You should substitute it with the last character (letter or number) of your user ID.

Click Connect
Supply your connection details as follows:
Connect As: Registered User Username: your UCL user ID Domain: ad.ucl.ac.uk Password: your UCL password Select Remember forever

Click Connect. This will听mount your home drive in the left side Files menu.
In Files right-click the home drive and select Add Bookmark. This will make your home drive persistently appear in the Files menu.

At log in, click the bookmark to quickly mount your hard drive.
