Description
Content:
A module of human anatomy, histology and embryology that covers the structure and development of the head and neck, vertebral column and limbs. Clinical and comparative aspects are introduced as appropriate, so as to draw out the relationship between structure and function. The module comprises lectures and optional lab classes in the Anatomy Laboratory.
Teaching Delivery:
This module is taught in 20 bi-weekly lectures, with optinal anatomy laboratory sessions.
Module Aims:
1) To provide a detailed overview of the structure and embryonic development of the human body.
2) To provide a foundation from which to develop an understanding of clinical problems relating to human anatomy and development of the head and limbs.
3) To provide a strong anatomical foundation from which to explore developmental biology and evolutionary morphology in relation to the head and limbs.
The module is open to interested students, but would not be appropriate for iBSc medical students as it covers topics in the Year 2 MMB module. It helps if you have taken the first year module ANAT0001 Introduction to Anatomy and Development, but this is not essential provided you are willing to put in extra work/reading. Affiliate students and students without any Life Sciences background should contact the module organizer in advance. Year 4 students interested in taking the module should contact the module organizer.
