The course provides students with a sound understanding of the physical principles of climate without getting bogged down in mathematical detail. This course will introduce students to the observational and modeling tools used to assess the climate and will give them the chance to analyze their outputs for themselves. It includes detailed discussion of global warming and our responses to it, including controversial proposals to geoengineer the climate.
By the end of this module students will have:
- A robust understanding of the core principles that shape the climate
- Skills in writing, comprehension of scientific data and papers, mathematical calculation, independent study, and IT skills.
