The module fills in a few obvious gaps in the current curriculum, such as (a) Dirichlet’s unit theorem, (b) class number formula, (c) Galois theory of finite fields and cyclotomic fields. It also covers some more advanced topics such as solving Thue equations and class field theory. The course takes as prerequisites both algebraic number theory and Galois theory.
