Outline:
In this module student will undertake a challenging extended open-ended project in a small group. The technical skills exercised in the collective solution of the set problem rely on practical and computing skills developed in modules in the first two years of the undergraduate Physics/Astrophysics programmes. Students take part in training in group interaction and management. They then practice these skills in small groups by addressing a complex technical problem in physics, which requires group co-operation for its solution.
Aims:
The module aims to teach students to function effectively as a member of a project team in a group situation, simulating the kind of working environment you will encounter in your professional careers, whether as physicists or in other fields.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
Through (a) an initial teaching session, and (b) working within a group, the students accomplish a significant and challenging technical task. Specific skills to be developed and practised include:

Teaching and Learning Methodology:
Group Projects conducted by students in the group with guidance from board members (academic staff).
