Description
Module outline
The module aims to build on and improve the students’ existing knowledge of Swedish so as to enable them to understand a wide range of authentic spoken and written Swedish texts, and express themselves fluently in both speech and writing.
Through the use of a variety of techniques (such as study of various types of text and media, grammar exercises, translation, conversation on everyday topics, etc.), the students will gradually improve their spoken and written language and master more complex grammatical structures and a wide range of vocabulary in Swedish. This will also enable students to speak with confidence and accuracy appropriate to this level about many aspects of the society and culture in Sweden, and wider Nordic region.
Two two-hour seminars per week in term 1 and term 2, consisting of tutor- and student-led discussions, pair and group work, and individual student presentations. Written tasks will be assigned as homework from week to week to consolidate the vocabulary, enhance translation and listening and reading comprehension skills.
UCL Moodle platform will be used as a main repository for all course materials, as well as for assignments and forum discussions.
