This is an advanced final year / MA language module in translation from and into German. Working with a variety of text types – literary, historical and journalistic – it aims to enhance understanding of idiom, style and register, and develops advanced language mediation skills. Practical translation work is complemented by a reflective, critical engagement with the translation process, as students not only become more proficient translators but also produce brief commentaries on their work. The module is taught weekly in Terms I and II, in two separate one-hour sessionsÌý
