Module description
The module will focus on the impact the Vikings had on European society ca. 800-1050. Additionally, the emergence of 鈥渘ew societies鈥 as a result of Viking exploration in the North Atlantic will be examined. Geographically the module will include Continental Europe, the Insular world, the North Atlantic colonies and Russia. Particular emphasis will be placed on a close examination of the various source-categories relevant to the study of the Vikings in Europe.
