Grand Challenges Special Initiatives 2022/23 Awards

Dr Fergus GreenÌý(UCL Political Science) andÌýDr Steve PyeÌý(UCL Energy Institute) amongst the winners for their project "No new fossil fuel projects".

UCL Grand Challenges recently awarded funding under four special initiative themes in academic year 2022/23:

• Climate Crisis
• Food Security
• Place & Displacement
• UN SDGs: Pathways to Achievement

The special initiative calls enable support for collaborative, innovative,Ìýand impactful cross-disciplinary activities.ÌýIn total, over 70 applications were receivedÌýfrom all 11 faculties °ÄÃÅÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼ as well as the Office for the Vice-Provost (Health) and the UCL Students’ Union. Four judging panels, one for each theme, approved funding for 17 applications, with total funding of nearly £150,000 awarded.
