Anglo-Finnish Society Collection (1939-1995)

The Anglo-Finnish Society (1911-) was formed in 1911, but went into abeyance during the First World War. It was revived but went into abeyance once more during the Second World War although aid to the Finnish Red Cross during its Winter War 1939-1940 with the Soviet Union was directed through the Society. It was then re-started in 1953. It is a non political body with the objective of fostering friendship and understanding between Britain and Finland. The Society's older papers were previously in the custody of the Society's Chairman, Professor W R Mead.
